Introduction

Springs - early ideas, experiments, thoughts, unknown and the unexpected. Things that are trial and error, which eventually find their way to a flowing stream.

Headwaters - young spring-like water, where I begin to develop the methodology for my research through practice-led research. These small tributaries explore my personal process of participating with rivers in creative ways to understand how creative process can deepen a personal perception of rivers.

Midwaters - small tributaries of the headwaters come together and my research becomes practice-based,. This is where methodology and methods developed in the headwaters become tested in participation with other humans who live in relationship with local rivers though a series of interventions that use different methods of creative practice.

Floodplains - the place where the midwater tributaries coalesce into the floodplain and continues to work with practice-based research. Here practice-based methods are extended to rivers at a national and international scale and the participants are extended into a much wider public realm and includes working with experts who are involved with water policy.

Outlet - is the exit where all the rivers’ waters meet the sea. This is where the final conclusions of the research come together and recommendations are made.

The very beginnings of this exploration began in another river on the other side of the world. Read More to visit this river →
